CHAS (The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme)

Each month thousands of contractors and consultants (suppliers) apply for work with public and private sector organisations (buyers). To win work, they must meet the buyer’s health and safety standards. Assessing supplier’s health and safety competence is usually a lengthy and time consuming process. Suppliers can sometimes meet one buyer’s Health and Safety standards but not another. Being CHAS approved reduces duplication as suppliers compliance is accepted by all CHAS buyers.

CHAS assesses applicants:

  • Health and safety policy statement
  • Their organisation for health and safety
  • Their specific health and safety arrangements to a standard acceptable to our buyers and to others.

SafeContractor Approved – The Health and Safety Assessment Scheme

As a leading health and safety pre-qualification assessment scheme, we are dedicated to promoting higher standards of competence and compliance through the provision of relevant industry specific and tailored health and safety assessments for all professions and sectors

Safecontractor is the fastest growing health and safety accreditation scheme in the UK, with more than 200 major clients and over 18,000 contractor members.

Registered members with the Safecontractor scheme include clients and contractors from a wide range of professional disciplines working within a number of industry sectors. With its increasing membership and growing profile in the UK, the Safecontractor scheme is now used by many large organisations as a way of obtaining competent contractors.

Constructionline is the UK’s largest and only Government owned pre-qualification scheme for the construction industry and has a select membership of over 22,000 contractors, consultants and suppliers.

By becoming an approved supplier Didsbury Garden Services Ltd has met the stringent standards required by Constructionline, such as financial stability, environmental policy and Health and Safety criteria.

This demonstrates to both existing and potential clients that Didsbury Garden Services Ltd is fit to supply and are already pre-qualified to Government standards. This Government standard supplier accreditation is the largest database of its kind in the construction industry targeting 8,000 buyers in avetta 2public and private sector organisations.

We are now a member of the Avetta Consortium which provides exposure to more clients and employment opportunities within the vast, location-based Avetta ecosystem.

To become a member we had to pass a stringent pre-qualification application and this membership enhances our commercial sector services.

Our accreditation is based on registering scores across the following key criteria: health, safety and environment, financial performance, human resources and corporate social responsibility.

Now in use by many global blue-chips, Avetta is an established supplier management service that makes our contractor data available live and on-demand, helping to improve contractor safety, communication and compliance. Our membership of Avetta also speeds up the contractor screening process for our customers who are signed-up to the scheme.
